Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Looker Developer / Analytics Engineer with hands-on experience in LookML, data modeling, SQL, and cloud data warehouse platforms. The ideal candidate will be responsible for architecting data models, building scalable dashboards, ensuring data quality, and delivering analytics solutions that empower business stakeholders with actionable insights.

Key Responsibilities

Looker Development & Analytics:

• Develop, maintain, and optimize LookML models, views, explores, and reusable components.
• Build intuitive and visually compelling dashboards, reports, and self-service analytics for business teams.
• Implement Looker best practices, including project structuring, naming conventions, versioning, and DRY principles.
• Manage Looker permissions, user access, content organization, and governance.
• Design and implement scalable dimensional data models following star/snowflake schema principles.
• Collaborate with data engineering teams to translate business needs into well-structured analytical models.
• Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and performance optimization across Looker projects.
• Write complex and optimized SQL queries for data validation, transformation, and analysis.
• Contribute to ELT processes by validating transformations in cloud warehouses (BigQuery, Snowflake, Redshift).
• Analyze large datasets to identify trends, gaps, and data integrity issues.
• Improve query performance through indexing, clustering, partitioning, and Looker query tuning.
• Maintain documentation for LookML structures, BI processes, and analytical workflows.
• Implement Git-based version control, pull requests, and code review best practices.
• Work closely with business stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into analytics solutions.
• Partner with data engineering teams to address data gaps, schema design, and data pipeline dependencies.
• Provide training and support to analysts and end users on Looker usage and self-service capabilities.
• Strong hands-on experience designing LookML models, explores, views, and dashboards.
• Experience with Looker permissions, content management, and Looker API (nice to have).
• Expert-level SQL skills for:
  • Joins, aggregations, window functions
  • Query optimization and debugging
  • Data validation and reconciliation
• Experience with cloud data warehouses:
  • Google BigQuery
  • Snowflake
  • Amazon Redshift
• Strong understanding of:
  • Star & Snowflake schemas
  • Kimball dimensional modeling
  • Fact and dimension design
  • Data normalization and denormalization strategies
• Experience using Git for:
  • Branching
  • Pull requests
  • Code reviews
  • Managing Looker projects
• Experience with Python or scripting for data validation.
• Exposure to dbt (Data Build Tool).
• Understanding of ETL/ELT frameworks and pipeline dependency structures.
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
