Job Summary

We are seeking a Senior PHP Laravel Developer specializing in backend API development to
build and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications for Life Insurance
sales, agent management, and lead generation. The ideal candidate will have experience working
with RESTful APIs, microservices, and backend system integrations to optimize data flow
between sales, marketing, and insurance providers.

Key Responsibilities

• Backend API Development & Optimization: Design, develop, and maintain RESTful APIs using PHP Laravel to support Life Insurance sales and agent management. Ensuring APIs are scalable, secure, and optimized for high traffic and low latency. Additionally, developing and optimizing microservices architecture for modular and scalable API design.
• Third-Party API & System Integrations: Integrate with Life Insurance provider APIs, underwriting services, and claims processing systems. Implement CRM integrations for seamless agent and customer data management. Connect with payment gateways for secure policy payments and commissions processing. Develop middleware for data synchronization across multiple platforms.
• Database & Data Management: Design and optimize relational databases MSSQL for agent data, policyholder data, sales tracking, and more. Implement caching strategies to improve API performance. Ensure compliance with TCPA regulations for consent management. Data privacy and protection.
• Security & Compliance: Implement OAuth2, JWT, and API key-based authentication for secure API access. Develop role-based access control (RBAC) for different user types (agents, admins, & customers). Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability testing, and risk assessments. Enforce encryption standards for sensitive insurance data.
• Performance & DevOps Optimization: Utilize Docker and Kubernetes for containerized deployments and scalability. Implement CI/CD pipelines for automated testing, deployment, and monitoring. Optimize backend performance with load balancing, caching strategies, and database indexing. Use logging & monitoring tools (ELK Stack, Grafana, Prometheus) to track API health and system performance.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in backend development with PHP Laravel.
• Strong expertise in RESTful API development, API versioning, and microservices architecture.
• Proficiency in API security best practices, including OAuth2, JWT, and role-based access
  control.
• Experience with third-party integrations (insurance APIs, CRM, payment gateways, underwriting
  platforms).
• Strong knowledge of SQL databases (MSSQL Server) and caching systems (Redis).
• Experience in Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines for automated deployments.
• Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) for API hosting and scaling.
• Understanding of unit testing, automated testing, and API monitoring.
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills in complex backend systems.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with C# and .NET web development frameworks, enabling integration with cross-platform systems and support for scalable enterprise applications.
• Candidates with XBSL experience preferred.
• Knowledge of AI/ML integration for predictive analytics in insurance sales.
• Familiarity with message queues (Kafka) for event-driven architectures.
• Prior experience in Life Insurance or Financial Services backend systems.
