Security Engineer

Overview

We are seeking a Security Engineer who can quickly secure and harden our environment. This role requires someone flexible, hands-on, and able to thrive in a small shop environment. The ideal candidate will have strong data security expertise, with exposure to PCI DSS and compliance frameworks being a plus.

Responsibilities

• Rapidly assess, secure, and harden systems, networks, and applications.

• Implement and manage security controls, monitoring tools, and best practices.

• Work across teams to identify and remediate vulnerabilities.

• Develop and enforce data security policies and procedures.

• Assist in compliance-related activities, including PCI DSS and other regulatory frameworks.

• Provide guidance on incident response, threat mitigation, and security awareness.

• Stay current with emerging threats, vulnerabilities, and industry standards.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in information security or cybersecurity engineering.

• Strong knowledge of data security practices and vulnerability management.

• Familiarity with PCI DSS or similar compliance standards.

• Hands-on experience with security tools (SIEM, firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, etc.).

• Ability to work independently and flexibly in a small, fast-paced team.

• Strong problem-solving and communication skills.

Nice to Have

• Prior experience securing environments with PCI data.

• Compliance background (ISO 27001, NIST, HIPAA, etc.).

• Scripting or automation experience (Python, PowerShell, Bash).
