About the Role We are seeking an experienced Controller for a short-term, part-time engagement focused on a targeted NetSuite general ledger (GL) and data cleanup initiative. The ideal candidate will take ownership of reviewing, correcting, and improving key financial data structures and processes. This is a project for someone who is highly detail-oriented, experienced in cleanup and reconciliation work, and comfortable operating independently with minimal direction.
Key Responsibilities • Conduct a comprehensive review of the General Ledger (GL) structure within NetSuite. • Identify errors, duplications, miscodings, and areas requiring structural cleanup. • Reclassify and correct transactions to ensure accurate financial reporting. • Perform detailed account reconciliations and validate historical financial entries. • Execute data cleanup across NetSuite financial modules, including:
Vendor and customer records
Chart of accounts structure
Department, location, and class coding
• Ensure data integrity across the system and remove inconsistencies. • Document all changes made and provide clear guidance for maintaining ongoing accuracy. • Recommend improvements to financial workflows, including month-end close and coding practices. • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders to validate financial statements after cleanup.
Qualifications • 5+ years of experience as a Controller, Senior Accountant, or Finance Manager. • Hands-on NetSuite experience (required) – must be highly proficient in navigating, updating, and troubleshooting within the system. • Proven experience in GL cleanup, reconciliations, and data integrity remediation projects. • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial reporting best practices. • Exceptional attention to detail and ability to manage large volumes of data accurately. • Comfortable working independently and proactively documenting processes and improvements. • Strong communication skills.
Project Details • Part-time project: approximately 10–15 hours per week, flexible schedule. • 1–2-month duration, with potential extension depending on project scope. • Budget: $2,000 per month.
