Position Overview:

JMA Resources is seeking a seasoned Database Administrator with over 10 years of experience serving as the technical authority for enterprise database platforms within secure federal environments. Proven expertise designing and modernizing database architectures, implementing DoD STIG-compliant security controls, and supporting Java, J2EE, and .NET-based applications across Linux and cloud environments, including AWS GovCloud. Adept at leading database modernization initiatives, optimizing performance, and ensuring secure, resilient architectures aligned with mission requirements. Experienced in data integration, replication, ETL processes, and analytics/reporting platforms, with strong troubleshooting capabilities across application, database, and infrastructure layers. Recognized for providing technical oversight, mentoring junior DBAs, and serving as a trusted advisor to Program Management and Government leadership.

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the technical authority for all database platforms supporting the client.
  • Design and oversee enterprise database architectures.
  • Act as the database advisor to Program Management and Government Leads.
  • Lead modernization efforts (legacy /optimized / secure architectures)
  • Mentor junior and mid-level DBAs.
  • Provide technical oversight and peer review.


Clearance Level:

  • Current or ability to obtain a Department of Defense (DoD) Top Secret Clearance is required. Note: To obtain a security clearance, you must be a U.S. citizen and meet the 13 adjudicative guidelines.


Required Qualifications:

  • Experience implementing and maintaining database security controls in compliance with DoD STIGs and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience supporting databases for Java, J2EE, and .NET-based applications.
  • Working knowledge of Linux server environments.
  • Experience supporting data integration, replication, and ETL processes using enterprise tools.
  • Familiarity with analytics and reporting platforms such as Tableau, SAP BusinessObjects, or Cognos.
  • Experience working in cloud environments, preferably AWS GovCloud, including the use of services such as S3.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across applications, database, and infrastructure layers.
  • Strong documentation and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in environments with evolving requirements.

Location & Commitments:

  • Position: Full Time
  • Work Arrangement: Remote 
  • Travel Requirements: May be required.
  • Location Preference: Prefer candidates who reside in the Eastern Time Zone or who can work Eastern Time Zone business hours to ensure alignment with client schedules and team collaboration
  • Work Hours: Standard 40-hour workweek (8 hours/day). Some flexibility may be available to accommodate client needs and personal responsibilities.
