AWS Cloud Engineer – AppStream 2.0 Demo Environment (Short-Term Contract) Engagement Type

Project Overview
We are seeking an experienced AWS Cloud Engineer to support a short-term project focused on designing and deploying a secure demo environment using Amazon AppStream 2.0. The goal of this engagement is to stand up a functional, cost-efficient proof-of-concept that demonstrates application streaming capabilities for internal stakeholders and/or customers.
This is a hands-on, execution-focused role with a clearly defined scope and timeline. Responsibilities
Design and deploy a demo environment using Amazon AppStream 2.0
Configure and manage AWS EC2 instances, including appropriate instance types and scaling considerations
Create and manage AppStream images, fleets, and stacks
Configure IAM roles and policies following AWS best practices
Set up networking components (VPC, subnets, security groups, routing) to support the demo environment
Install and configure demo applications within AppStream images
Ensure the environment is secure, performant, and cost-aware
Provide clear documentation covering setup, configuration, and teardown
Support knowledge transfer and walkthroughs as needed
Recommend improvements or optimizations for demo stability and usability
Required Skills & Experience
Strong hands-on experience with AWS cloud services
Proven experience working with Amazon AppStream 2.0
Solid understanding of EC2, AMIs, security groups, and instance lifecycle
Experience with AWS IAM, including least-privilege access models
Familiarity with VPC networking concepts
Ability to independently scope and execute a short-term cloud project
Strong documentation and communication skills
Comfortable working in a fully remote, async environment
Nice to Have
Experience building proof-of-concept or demo environments
Familiarity with AWS cost optimization
Exposure to enterprise or government cloud environments
Experience comparing AppStream 2.0 with alternatives (e.g., WorkSpaces, VDI)
