The Associate Estimator supports the estimating team by preparing accurate, timely proposals for "specialty" products. This role is ideal for someone early in their estimating career who enjoys working with numbers, reviewing plans, and contributing to a fast-paced, high-volume environment. You’ll work closely with experienced estimators, assist across multiple business units, and receive hands-on training in estimating tools and processes.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
• Prepare accurate estimates and proposals for specialty items (e.g., mirrors, wire shelving, hardware, and other ancillary products).
• Review and interpret plans, specifications, bid documents, change orders, and project revisions.
• Perform quantity take-offs and prepare proposals using estimating software and Microsoft Excel.
• Communicate with vendors to obtain pricing and clarify scope as needed.
• Create and maintain estimating templates to support consistent and efficient proposal development.
• Receive and manage incoming estimate requests, ensuring all required information is gathered and documented.
• Support senior estimators by assisting with workload overflow and cross-functional estimating needs.
• Manage multiple estimates simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining a high level of accuracy.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and coordination across projects.
• Maintain regular and reliable attendance and contribute to a positive, productive team environment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
Required Qualifications
• High school diploma or equivalent; 3+ years of related work experience preferred.
• Strong Excel proficiency required.
• Comfort working with numbers and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with limited supervision.
• Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
• Self-motivated, deadline-driven, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Preferred / Nice to Have
• Prior estimating or construction-related experience.
• Exposure to estimating software (experience with MeasureSquare is a plus).
• Industry experience in construction, building materials, or specialty products.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to follow plans and technical instructions.
