Production Test Experience: Tell me a test system you were responsible for deploying to production. What was your role?

Tell me about the production-level test strategies, technologies, and hardware/software used (in the above example)? How did you define the tester's requirements? How did you verify the test system functions as intended?

What is your experience: designing and integrating test fixtures including bed-of-nails, smart fixtures, mass interconnects, interchangeable test adapter (ITA), and similar device-under-test (DUT) interface methodologies (listen for 3 out of 5, especially bed-of-nails)

If you can share where they are at in their job search/with other companies; what you would prioritize when deciding between jobs:

They need PRODUCTION not R&D

ALSO NEED SOME PCB EXPERINCE-ALTIUM IS BEST.

We had someone interview and they passed because of this please let me know if you have anyone from a PRODUCTION environment not R&D

Faris communicates well and was a pleasure to speak with.

Faris brings a nice set of med-device industry experience but from their perspective it is too heavily SW-oriented and too much of the R&D (design verification) test development type (as opposed to production test). He consistently reverted to R&D test responses when specifically asked for production test examples.

He consistently indicated that he played a relatively narrow role within a development team of approximately 4 people. It seemed to be mostly SW development and/or SW maintenance work.

As such, he did not demonstrate the breadth required to design/develop all aspects of a production test system. For instance, he didn't have much relevant experience in selecting HW or creating tester schematics/wiring diagrams.. he relied on others to do that work.

felt that he would struggle to lead and independently drive multiple production-test development projects.

Description

Test engineering role to develop manufacturing-floor test systems intended for medical device product test. Interacts with engineering and operations teams to design, develop, and release test systems to the production environment, including defining test requirements and associated verification and validation activities.

Skills Required:

Test specifications and procedures development.

Test hardware and software specifications and development.

Schematic design and PCB layout CAD tools, preferably Altium. - (Nice to have)

Test software development in NI LabVIEW, TestStand, scripting languages such as WinBatch, etc.

Test System release to production and process validation knowledge

Preferred: experience with developing test systems for medical products.

Responsibilities & Tasks Include:

Create test specifications based on the existing manufacturing test and proposal to replace obsolete test equipment and improvements.

Create new test system design specifications & conduct design reviews with team.

Design, develop & documentation of test hardware and software.

Create schematics, BOM, source parts & coordinate parts procurement.

Assemble, integrate, test, and debug test system.

Create tester validation plan and protocol; collaborate with team for process integration.

Execute tester validation and create validation report for release to production.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in electrical / electronic engineering, or equivalent.

Minimum 5 years' experience developing automated manufacturing test systems for electronic assemblies USING LABVIEW

Schematic design and PCB layout CAD tools, preferably Altium. - (Nice to have)

Test software development in NI LabVIEW, TestStand, scripting languages such as WinBatch, etc.

Extensive knowledge and experience using commercial, off-the-shelf test and measurement equipment.
